Per-Arne Svensson, a professor at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences in Sweden, has examined the relationship between weight loss and marital status. He noted that substantial weight loss, often occurring within the first year of treatment, may alter relationship dynamics. These changes could eventually lead to divorce proceedings.

“The effect likely unfolds in several stages," Svensson told Fox News Digital. "First, a substantial amount of weight must be lost, which typically occurs within the first year. " Studies from 2013 indicate that significant weight loss in one partner, while the other remains unchanged, can create tension.”
