An explosion and fire at a defense manufacturing site in South Korea killed five people and injured two others on Monday. The incident occurred at a Hanwha Aerospace worksite in the city of Daejeon. The facility produces large-sized propellants and surface-to-surface weapons systems.

Emergency official Yoon Seong-su said the area is a government-designated security facility. Local medical official Kim Ju-yeon said one of the two injured workers remains in critical condition. Authorities have not yet identified the five people who died.

Other details, including the cause of the explosion, were not immediately available. The site is one of Hanwha Aerospace’s key production locations, according to Yonhap news agency.
