Explosions Reported in Kuwait and Southern Iran, Killing One Worker

Explosions were reported in Kuwait, with smoke visible rising at the border with Iraq. Additional blasts hit areas near Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island and Hajjiabad in southern Iran's Hormozgan province. One maintenance worker died and two others were wounded while on duty at the affected sites, Iran's IRNA news service said.
Iran's state-run power company Tavanir recorded a 4,200MW drop in electricity supply after more than 2,000 points on the grid sustained damage. Tavanir's chief executive asked for empathy and support for the sector during summer heat. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated that Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2 have killed at least 4,322 people, wounded 12,219 others and displaced more than a million.
Israel will hold parliamentary elections on October 27, allowing the current parliament to finish its four-year term on July 17. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for an immediate halt to escalating attacks across the Gulf. Pope Leo posted on X on July 12 urging dialogue and diplomacy amid the renewed strikes.
