Wes Anderson to Receive Fellini Award in Rimini on April 21
Filmmaker Wes Anderson will receive the Fellini Award from the municipality of Rimini and Cineteca di Bologna on April 21 at Teatro Galli theatre. The event includes an onstage conversation with Gianluca Farinelli, chief of Cineteca di Bologna. A screening of Moonrise Kingdom is scheduled for April 20 at restored Cinema Fulgor.

The award is bestowed by the municipality of Rimini in tandem with Cineteca di Bologna. During the ceremony, Anderson will hold an onstage conversation with Gianluca Farinelli, the chief of Cineteca di Bologna. The Fellini Award organizers praised Anderson for creating a unique visual universe which has spawned iconic works such as The Royal Tenenbaums, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Asteroid City.
Preceding Events On April 20, Rimini’s Cinema Fulgor will host a special screening of Moonrise Kingdom.
Cinema Fulgor was Federico Fellini’s formative film temple. The venue has been restored and refurbished. Rimini Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad noted that they had invited Wes Anderson to Rimini some time ago to introduce him to the museum project inspired by Federico Fellini.
Sadegholvaad stated that they felt this was the perfect opportunity to present him with a recognition that ties in naturally with the artistic and poetic bond that Anderson himself has repeatedly spoken about with regards to Federico Fellini’s work.
Statements from Organizers Gianluca Farinelli commented that Wes Anderson is an artist that is very close to Federico Fellini for his ability to invent and bring original worlds to life.
Farinelli added that it’s hard to imagine a better candidate for this second edition of the renewed Fellini Award.
