Two planes nearly collided while approaching the tarmac at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Monday afternoon, the New York Post reported. Republic Airways Flight 4464 deviated from its intended approach path and veered on a collision course with Jazz Aviation Flight 554, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

With Flightradar24 data capturing the flights gliding within 350 feet of each other. Air traffic controllers ordered the pilots to correct course immediately. A controller warned the Republic pilots: 'You are flying through the approach course of runway 31 left.

Correct immediately,' according to air traffic control audio obtained by ABC News. ' Both flight crews responded to onboard alerts and averted the midair disaster, the Federal Aviation Administration stated. Blaring alarms could be heard in the background of the cockpit audio.

The crew of Republic Airways Flight 4464 received a resolution advisory from the aircraft’s Traffic Collision Avoidance System, which is the most serious warning pilots can receive and typically orders them to climb or descend to avoid a threat, Republic Airways said.

Republic Airways was operating the service for American Airlines. Jazz Aviation was flying for Air Canada, and its crew received a traffic warning notification and resolution, along with directions from air traffic controllers, Jazz Aviation stated.

M. The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the incident. This event follows a similar occurrence just days earlier, when two Southwest Airlines planes narrowly avoided a midair collision at Nashville Airport after air traffic control put them in each other’s paths.
