Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb reunited on the Today show on Monday, marking their first co-hosting appearance in over a year. Kotb filled in for Craig Melvin, who is on vacation. The reunion follows Guthrie's recent return to the program after a leave of absence related to her mother's kidnapping.

The two journalists previously made history in 2018 as the first all-female duo to host the morning program. They had co-hosted together from 2018 until Kotb's departure in January 2025.
Guthrie opened the show by greeting viewers and expressing gladness at having Kotb beside her. Kotb responded that she was happy to sit next to Guthrie again. Guthrie added that it felt like old times.
Kotb, aged 61, was filling in for co-host Craig Melvin, aged 46, who is on vacation with his family this week. The last time Guthrie and Kotb co-hosted was on Kotb's final day as a host on January 10, 2025. In February, Kotb described the Today show team as a family and stated she was happy to participate because the group supports each other.
Guthrie, aged 54, returned to the Today show on April 6 after more than two months off air. Her absence was due to her mother Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, which was later confirmed as a kidnapping. Upon her return, Guthrie stated that it felt good to be home after recapping the news with Melvin.
Guthrie's return was met with welcomes from fans at Rockefeller Plaza. Prior to her return, Guthrie conducted an interview with Kotb in March about the kidnapping. During the interview, Guthrie recounted receiving a call from her sister Annie Guthrie about their mother's disappearance.
Guthrie recalled asking if everything was okay and learning that her mother was missing. The interview was Guthrie's first public discussion since the incident. It provided details about the events surrounding the kidnapping.
The investigation into the kidnapping remains ongoing. Officials are still searching for the individual responsible. No further details on the status of Nancy Guthrie were provided in recent reports.
