Family sues Amazon over crash that left teen with brain injury

The family of 17-year-old Lucas Bradshaw filed a lawsuit against Amazon after a driver hauling freight for the company struck a school minibus in LaPorte County, Indiana. Driver's record and charges The driver, Shawn Akison, tested positive for fentanyl after the crash and is serving an eight-year prison sentence. Court records show prior violations including a hit-and-run and a recent heroin-possession arrest while driving for the company. The family's lawyers stated that Amazon failed to screen the driver adequately despite the documented history.

Company response Amazon described the incident as a tragedy but declined further comment. The lawsuit seeks damages for medical costs, ongoing care, and loss of future earnings.
