Fans Build AI Tools to Track World Cup Ticket Prices
Subscribers to r/WorldCup2026Tickets have created free websites that scan FIFA's resale platform for price drops. The tools have documented multiple games falling below face value in recent weeks.
koreaboo.comSubscribers to the subreddit r/WorldCup2026Tickets have built websites that pull live data from FIFA's official resale marketplace. The sites display seat availability and price trends for matches scheduled at the 2026 World Cup. One tool, SeatSidekick, launched on April 18 after its creator used Claude Code to build it in five days.
The site received 178,000 unique visitors and more than one million pageviews in its first month.
SeatSidekick data showed the Jordan versus Algeria match falling below $100 per ticket on May 17. Subscribers have posted alerts when prices decline and have created private WhatsApp groups to arrange direct transfers that avoid FIFA's 30 percent resale commission.
York and New Jersey issued subpoenas to FIFA on May 27 as part of an investigation into its ticketing practices. FIFA did not respond to requests for comment on the subreddit activity. More than 260,000 tickets remain listed for sale on the official platform, according to SeatSidekick data.
