A mass shooting at a Chick-fil-A in Union Township, New Jersey, resulted in one death and six injuries on Saturday evening. Masked gunmen entered the restaurant and opened fire, with law enforcement believing the incident to be gang-related. Dashcam footage showed one masked gunman sprinting away from the eatery. The footage also showed several frightened customers running for their lives. The shooting marked the 100th mass shooting in the US so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
Investigation and Response No arrests have been made as of Monday.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the violence. The restaurant remained closed on Monday morning. A small memorial including several bunches of flowers and a votive candle was placed outside the front door.
The door had a sign announcing the temporary closure and thanking customers for their patience.
