FBI Adds 260 Intelligence Officials to Georgia 2020 Election Probe Restarted by Trump Appointee

The FBI is adding 260 intelligence officials to its investigation of the 2020 election in Georgia, Cnn reported. An internal memo seen by Cnn directs the rapid addition of the personnel on top of agents already assigned to the Atlanta area. Some of the new officials, who include data analysts, will work remotely on the case.
Cnn reported that the FBI served a search warrant at a Fulton County elections office in January 2026 and seized 700 boxes of election materials. The same month Kurt Olsen, appointed by the White House to examine the 2020 election, made a referral that restarted the criminal probe.
Federal prosecutors have examined votes from national elections held after 2020 and charged a small number of people for improper voter registration, Cnn reported.
The Justice Department also used a grand jury to seek records on thousands of election workers who assisted with 2020 vote counting in Fulton County. The FBI declined to comment on the personnel increase. President Donald Trump has described the 2020 presidential election as rigged.
