indianexpress.comFederal agents searched the headquarters of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative on June 11 as part of a federal fraud investigation. Agents also questioned members of the organization at multiple locations across Ohio, sometimes serving subpoenas or requesting electronic devices, according to MS Now.
Multiple sources told CBS News the following day that the operations were connected to a fraud-related inquiry. The Department of Justice declined to comment on the specifics of the investigation. A DOJ official told Fox News Digital that search warrants are authorized by a judge and that statements about the targets of investigations amount to speculation before any indictment.
The Ohio Organizing Collaborative is a nonprofit that conducts voter registration and mobilization work in the state. It has also participated in ballot referendum campaigns. Tax documents show the organization reported more than $10 million in revenue in 2024. Funding has come from multiple donor organizations, including labor unions and philanthropic groups.
An OOC board member told MS Now the federal action was intended to distract and intimidate people involved in voter registration efforts during an election period. The board member stated there was no evidence of wrongdoing. The organization did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital on Monday.
