FBI Arrests Over 350 Child Sex Offenders in Nationwide Operation

Federal agents arrested over 350 child sexual abuse offenders and located more than 200 child victims during Operation Iron Pursuit, a coordinated nationwide takedown that concluded last month, per the Justice Department announcement on May 5, 2026.

The operation affected child victims and offenders in every U.S. jurisdiction, with participation from all 56 FBI field offices and corresponding U.S. Attorneys' offices. More than 200 victims received identification and potential support services, while over 350 arrests targeted individuals involved in child sex abuse crimes.

Before the operation, these offenders operated without immediate federal intervention in their cases, allowing ongoing abuse. Now, the arrested individuals face federal prosecution under relevant statutes, with victims connected to recovery resources effective immediately following their location during the one-month period ending in April 2026.

Prosecutions will proceed in federal district courts nationwide, requiring U.S. Attorneys to file charges and schedule hearings within standard timelines under the Speedy Trial Act. Victim support programs, including those funded by the Justice Department's Office for Victims of Crime, activate for the identified children, providing counseling and legal aid.

The FBI must now process evidence from the arrests, triggering forensic reviews and potential additional investigations by June 2026.

Operation Iron Pursuit follows similar DOJ initiatives, such as Operation Renewed Hope in 2024, which resulted in over 100 arrests. The department has conducted at least three nationwide child protection operations since 2023, per public records of FBI enforcement actions.
