FCA US Voluntarily Recalls Over 1 Million Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers for Wiring Fix After 51 Fires

pymnts.comFCA US is voluntarily recalling 1,076,999 Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler vehicles from model years 2021 through 2025 because of a potential fire risk in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall in a press release on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. FCA US confirmed the recall to ABC News on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
NHTSA said the vehicles may have a faulty electrical connection that could cause combustible materials to overheat and catch fire even when the vehicle is turned off. The agency’s investigation linked the issue to 51 fires and one injury. NHTSA advised owners to park recalled vehicles outside and away from other vehicles and buildings until repairs are completed.
Recalled vehicle IDs and license plates will appear on the NHTSA website beginning Thursday, June 11, 2026. FCA US said it will repair or replace the wiring harness and electric hydraulic power steering pump if necessary. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed on July 9, 2026, and the company anticipates a remedy will be available no later than July 2026.
