UpDoc received FDA clearance in December for its diabetes management app and announced the approval in late June. It is regulated in the same category as drug dose calculators that process blood glucose levels and recommend insulin doses.

UpDoc was founded in 2023. The device features a chatbot-like interface powered by large language models. Patients enter data through voice or text inputs, and the app responds with treatment instructions.
