A Department of Finance news release stated that the money will restore the 20 per cent of park assets affected by the fire, including campgrounds, staff housing, utilities buildings and roadways.
Additional uses of the funds The same release said the allocation will also cover interim housing for Jasper residents through March 2028 and complete townsite and perimeter fire-risk reduction measures. The new amount is in addition to the $385 million the federal government has already provided for Jasper wildfire response and recovery.
Champagne said the announcement builds on existing measures to restore park infrastructure for Albertans, Canadians and international visitors.
