Federal Housing Authority secures land in 28 states and completes 100 units over 26 months

The Federal Housing Authority has secured prime land in 28 states across Nigeria, AllAfrica reported. Several state governments allocated the sites to support expanded housing development. Ezekiel Etuk, executive director of estate services at the authority, spoke at the June 29 groundbreaking for the FHA Green City Estate in Abuja.

He represented the managing director and said the authority had visited the states where governors provided the land parcels. Construction contracts have been awarded and work has begun in multiple locations, with prior groundbreaking ceremonies held in Akwa Ibom, Abia, Kaduna, and Abeokuta. Etuk also described internal reforms.

The authority has placed its property files on the Galaxy Backbone platform for digital storage and is automating operations. Its geological and structural integrity testing laboratory has become operational. Over the past 26 months the authority completed and commissioned 100 housing units at the FHA Estate in Ibadan, the FHA Expressview Estate and FHA Complex in Lugbe, Abuja, and the FHA Shopping Mall in Gwarinpa.

A 336-unit housing estate in Bwari, Abuja, remains under construction with completion scheduled before the end of 2026. Oba Akintoye Adeoye, president of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, also addressed the Abuja ceremony. He called the Green City Estate a sign of opportunities under the federal Renewed Hope Housing Initiative and said greater government-private developer cooperation would support jobs and housing supply.
