Federal Judge Voids Trump Family IRS Settlement

A federal judge voided a settlement reached by President Trump and his two oldest sons with the IRS. The agreement had provided the family and its company with broad tax protections. The July 13 court order stated the lawsuit sought to legitimize an effort to confer immunity on people and entities affiliated with the president.

It also referenced earmarking billions of dollars from American taxpayers for unclear grievances.

Senate Swearing-In Darline Graham was sworn into the U.S. Senate on July 14.

She replaced her brother, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, who died July 11 from a tear in his aorta. South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster appointed the 64-year-old to fill the seat. Sen. Tim Scott and Sen. Katie Britt escorted her into the chamber, where Sen. Chuck Grassley administered the oath.

A Tyrannosaurus rex fossil known as Gus sold for $50.1 million at a Sotheby's auction on July 14. The specimen is approximately 67 million years old and ranks among the most complete and largest T. rex fossils found. The sale surpassed the previous record of $44.6 million set by a Stegosaurus fossil named Apex.

Neill died on July 13 in Sydney, Australia, at age 78.

His family announced the death on his Instagram account, noting he was surrounded by family. Neill had been diagnosed with stage 3 angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma in 2022 and announced in April that he was cancer-free after a clinical trial.

Lee announced her return to training on July 14.

She has not competed since winning three medals at the Paris Olympics two years ago. Lee's six Olympic medals tie her with Aly Raisman for third-most by a U.S. women's gymnast. She said she knows what she is capable of and is willing to do what it takes to return.
