Houston, a broker known as Tyra processed more than 500 sham marriages involving Vietnamese nationals who paid between $50,000 and $70,000 each. Eleven individuals were indicted in the Jacksonville case. In Boston, another broker arranged approximately 600 marriages and coached participants to file domestic-abuse claims when spouses became uncooperative.
Federal agents dismantled a related network in April 2025 that paired migrants with citizens across state lines.
