A female submariner told the High Court in Livingston that a colleague raped her at the Faslane Naval base on 11 May 2023. She said the incident followed a night of heavy drinking after a colleague's qualification celebration. The woman stated she needed help returning to her cabin and later awoke to find a man on top of her.

The accused, identified in court as Jake Wilson, 38, from Gosport in Hampshire, denies rape and has lodged a special defence of consent.

Second charge Wilson also faces a charge of sexually assaulting a second submariner on several occasions between October 2021 and November 2022. He denies that charge as well and maintains both women consented. The court heard that the woman had been drinking port and wine and felt unable to push the man away.

She said the man whispered a comment before the alleged rape. The trial before temporary judge John Morris continues.
