Social media users noted visual similarities between the Luce and the Nissan Leaf, an electric SUV that starts near $30,000. Several commenters questioned the pricing relative to other electric vehicles already on the market. Ferrari stated that the Luce will include an external amplification system to reproduce the sound of its electric axles.
The company did not respond to a request for comment on the public reaction.
Ferrari opened a $230 million factory expansion in Maranello in 2024 to support electric-vehicle production alongside hybrids and internal-combustion models. Chairman John Elkann said existing customers have expressed interest in an electric option. S. sales of electric vehicles have declined from prior peaks.
