Figma introduced new AI features and code integration tools at its annual Config conference. The updates include motion graphics generation, shader effects, and direct code editing within the design canvas.
The VergeFigma introduced several product updates at its annual Config conference on June 24, 2026. The changes focus on AI-assisted design tools and tighter integration between visual work and code. The company presented a reimagined canvas designed for full-stack development. It brings teams, AI agents, tools, and materials into one workspace, according to Figma.
Code layers allow users to edit project code without leaving the Figma Design canvas. Users can clone repositories, generate new directions with an AI agent, extract flows into editable design layers, and sync changes back to code. Motion tools let users design animations, transitions, and 3D transforms directly in Figma.
Users can prompt the chatbot interface to create animations, apply preset styles, or adjust them manually on a timeline. Shader effects can now be built by prompting the system. New options include dither, pixelate, and various blur types powered by WebGPU.
Weave workflows integrate more than 20 tools to generate consistent visuals. Full integration between Figma and Figma Weave is scheduled for later this year. Agent skills allow teams to turn repetitive tasks into reusable processes. Third-party connectors, web search, and file attachments can add context to agent work.
Generative plugins let users build custom tools from prompts without developer setup. These plugins can be tweaked and shared across teams.
