Film Shot on 35mm and Digital to Screen in Multiple Premium Formats

A new science-fiction film will open in theaters June 12, 2026, with screenings planned across several premium formats. The production combined footage from a Panavision Panaflex Millennium XL2 35mm camera and a Sony CineAlta Venice 2 digital camera. Panavision C- and T-Series anamorphic lenses were used throughout.

IMAX and 70mm Options IMAX Digital and GT screens will present the film at a 1.90:1 or 1.43:1 aspect ratio, resulting in black bars above and below the image. The large screen size and 12-channel laser sound are expected to offset the aspect-ratio difference.

A limited number of theaters will show the film on 70mm prints blown up from the 35mm negative. The audio track will use six-channel DTS sound.

AMC operates most of these screens in the U.S.; Odeon and one independent operator run the seven locations in the United Kingdom. Screens equipped with HDR by Barco projection will deliver up to 300 nits brightness and are paired with Dolby Atmos audio. Forty-four such screens operate worldwide, twenty-five of them in the U.S.

Generic premium large-format screens operated by major chains will also be available. In the U.S. these include AMC Prime and XL, Regal RPX, Cineplex UltraAVX, and Cinemark XD. In the United Kingdom the formats are Cineworld Superscreen, Odeon iSense, and OmniplexMAXX.

Standard 2D screenings will use laser projectors where available to provide brighter images and improved contrast compared with older xenon-lamp systems. No motion-enhanced formats such as ScreenX or 4DX are planned.
