Around 100 firefighters responded to a fire that broke out at the largest kosher supermarket in Golders Green on Wednesday morning. London Fire Brigade received the first of 56 calls shortly after 06:45 BST. The fire started in a three-storey building on Golders Green Road.

The London Fire Brigade said the building was producing a significant amount of smoke. Officials urged people in the area to keep windows and doors closed. Fifteen fire engines from Willesden, Finchley and West Hampstead were sent to the scene. A storage area to the rear of the shop was also affected.

Police assisted with evacuations and remained at the scene.

A Met Police spokesperson said the focus was on dealing with the fire and ensuring public safety. >"This is an ongoing incident with the focus on dealing with the fire and ensuring the safety of the public. " — Met Police spokesperson Road closures were put in place on Golders Green Road near the junction with Beverley Gardens.

Traffic was disrupted on the A406 North Circular in both directions between Brent Cross and Henly's Corner.

Current Status No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
