The VergeImage Line released FL Studio 2026 on July 9, 2026. The Verge reported that the update expands Gopher, an AI chatbot first introduced in 2025 as an interactive user manual, so that it can now execute actions on behalf of the user. A user can ask Gopher to create a four-on-the-floor kick pattern with snares on the backbeat and gated reverb on the snare, though the chatbot cannot create automation, insert melodic notes, or select specific plug-in presets.
Gopher remains limited in other areas. It cannot create or draw automation, insert notes or chords into melodic tracks, or select specific presets inside plug-ins. When asked to load a Rhodes sound, it opens a channel with the Flex instrument but leaves patch selection to the user.
Image Line stated that it is not training its AI on user data. The company also rebuilt the Flex virtual instrument, added automatic cloud backups for FL Cloud subscribers, and introduced an always-listening audio logger that captures the last 60 seconds of master output. FL Studio 2026 is available as a free upgrade.
