A flight attendant filed a federal lawsuit claiming injury from cooler bags thrown during a 2024 private flight. The defendant’s prior suit accuses her of extortion and breach of contract.
forbes.comA flight attendant filed a lawsuit Monday in the Central District of California federal court alleging that Matt Danzeisen injured her on a July 27, 2024, flight from Sun Valley, Idaho, to Washington, DC. The complaint states Danzeisen became angry when a bathroom was blocked by cooler bags and kitchen equipment.
It claims he shoved the attendant aside and threw the bags at her, striking her left ankle, foot, and leg, causing her to fall.
Lawsuit details The filing says the attendant was left on the floor in pain and in tears while Danzeisen entered the bathroom with his child. She alleges injuries to her left ankle, lumbar spine, knee, and foot that required surgery and ongoing treatment.
She also claims severe psychological injury and says she cannot return to work as a flight attendant. The suit states she was employed by the couple since 2022 and flew more than 200 flights with them.
Prior suit and responses Danzeisen filed suit against the attendant in May alleging breach of contract and seeking declaratory relief. His complaint claims the attendant waged a campaign to extort millions over an accidental contact by a soft fabric cooler bag. His attorney told Page Six the new filing is a shakedown and said the firm will not pay out.
“This is a shakedown about a bag that bumped into someone’s leg, and we do not pay out to shakedowns, so we will see everyone in court." — Alex Spiro, attorney for Danzeisen, via Page Six. The attendant’s attorney told Page Six the prior suit is an attempt to intimidate his client. He said the defendants are using legal tactics to pressure a flight attendant with fewer resources. The attendant denies any extortion attempt and alleges repeated verbal abuse by Danzeisen during her assignments. Danzeisen’s suit states witnesses described any contact as accidental and claims the attendant violated a confidentiality agreement.”
