Flooding Submerges Roads in Northern China Provinces

Severe flooding struck China’s northern Hebei province and northeastern Liaoning province, submerging roads and sweeping away cars. Japan Times reported that videos on social media showed people swimming, paddle-boarding and wake surfing along neighborhood streets in the affected areas.

Water levels rose to more than 2 meters on roads in Kuancheng county in Hebei, according to a resident’s account broadcast by local official media.

Kuancheng county, home to around 240,000 people, sits on the banks of the Luan River. The flooding occurred on or before July 13, 2026. In eastern Zhejiang province, a man cleared tree branches knocked down by Typhoon Bavi on Sunday, July 12, 2026, as the storm weakened to a tropical storm, Japan Times reported.
