Forbes Lists 54 U.S. Families With Fortunes of $10 Billion or More
Forbes published its second ranking of multi-generational U.S. families whose combined wealth reaches at least $10 billion each. The 54 families on the list hold a total of $1.9 trillion, an increase of nearly $600 billion from the 2024 edition.

Forbes released its ranking of America’s wealthiest multi-generational families on June 29, 2026. The list identifies 54 clans, each with an estimated net worth of $10 billion or higher, and reports their combined wealth at $1.9 trillion. The ranking applies a $10 billion minimum, up from the $1 billion cutoff used when Forbes first compiled the list in 2014.
All but five families on the current roster are in at least their fourth generation.
Since 2024 The family behind the Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer Walmart recorded the largest gain, adding an estimated $253 billion over two years for a total of $520 billion. The family associated with the Wichita, Kansas-based conglomerate Koch Inc.
increased its fortune by $41 billion to reach $157 billion. The family tied to the Mars Inc. candy and pet-food business rose by $12 billion to $129 billion. One family, linked to Houston-based Westlake Corporation, fell below the threshold after its fortune declined by $4.9 billion to $9.3 billion.
Ten families appear on the list for the first time. , the Lockton family of Kansas City, Missouri, and the Mills family of Northfield, Illinois. The families are based in 25 states. New York City is home to seven such families, while Atlanta and Chicago each have four.
Forbes calculated the figures using stock prices as of June 22, 2026, and excluded individuals who appear separately on its global billionaire list.
