Forbes and TrueBridge Release 2026 Midas List of Top Venture Investors
The annual ranking evaluates 100 venture capitalists based on verified exits, acquisitions, and private valuations of companies they backed. Data collection began in January 2026 and incorporates both confidential firm submissions and public records.
forbes.comForbes and TrueBridge Capital Partners published the 2026 Midas List ranking the top 100 venture investors on May 27, 2026. The list measures performance through documented investment outcomes rather than reputation or brand recognition.
Firms were invited in January to submit confidential portfolio data. Investors who did not submit were evaluated using public records. To qualify, an investor must have backed a company that either went public or was acquired for at least $200 million, or remains private at a valuation of at least $400 million.
The Midas Seed List uses lower thresholds of $50 million for exits and $100 million for private valuations. Newer investments receive higher weighting, and outcomes older than five years gradually lose influence until they exit the model.
Artificial intelligence accounted for nearly two-thirds of total venture deal value in 2026. Investors with positions in high-value private AI companies received greater weight in this year's rankings compared with periods dominated by public exits.
The model also factors in the stage of capital deployment, board participation, and value created for limited partners. Only investors deploying capital for third-party limited partners are eligible; those using solely personal or corporate capital are excluded.
Every submitted deal is cross-checked against public financing records, acquisition data, and prior Midas submissions. The average investor on the list reported nearly 16 qualifying investments.
