Anderson earned first-team All-MLB recognition in 2020 while with the Tampa Bay Rays during the shortened season. He later appeared in games for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, Colorado Rockies, and Seattle Mariners organizations before joining the Athletics.
Anderson had pitched well at Triple-A for the Athletics this year before deciding to retire. It was not immediately clear what his next step would be after baseball.
