After retiring as a player, he began coaching in 1998 and advanced through the minor leagues. He served as bullpen coach during the 2005 season and later became the minor-league catching coordinator before retiring after the 2020 season. He was inducted into the Springfield Area Sports Hall of Fame and the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
