Former Cubs player recovers current first baseman's home run ball
Anthony Rizzo retrieved Michael Busch's first-inning solo home run from the right-field bleachers at Wrigley Field on Saturday. The former first baseman participated in a pregame ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the 2016 World Series title.

Former Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo recovered a home run ball hit by current first baseman Michael Busch during a 6-2 win over Minnesota on Saturday. Rizzo, seated in the right-field bleachers after a ceremony honoring the 2016 championship team, picked up the ball after it landed on the concrete. He held the ball aloft with a child on his shoulder.
The Cubs unveiled a 31-foot-wide "Champions Gate" arch on the west side of Wrigley Field before the game. The structure commemorates the 10th anniversary of the team's 2016 World Series victory. Rizzo, a three-time All-Star who played 10 of his 14 seasons with the Cubs, addressed the crowd along with team owner Tom Ricketts and 2016 manager Joe Maddon.
Approximately 20 players from the 2016 roster attended the ceremony. Maddon and the players returned to the field before the game, and right-hander Kyle Hendricks threw a ceremonial first pitch. 292 with 32 home runs and 109 RBIs during the 2016 regular season and added three home runs in the postseason.
The Cubs ended a 108-year championship drought that year. He also retrieved a home run ball hit by Rays designated hitter Moises Ballesteros at Wrigley Field in September.
