Former ESPN senior NBA writer Tim Bontemps has been hired for a front-office role with the Atlanta Hawks. Bontemps will serve as a strategic adviser and report to Atlanta president of basketball operations Onsi Saleh. Bontemps, 41, covered the NBA since 2012, including the last eight seasons at ESPN after joining the network in 2018.
He previously spent three years as the national NBA writer for The Washington Post. Bontemps began his career in an entry-level position at the New York Post after graduating from Bonaventure in 2007 and was promoted in 2012 to Brooklyn Nets beat writer, a post he held for three years.
The Hawks finished the previous season with a 46-36 record and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the New York Knicks.
That campaign marked Onsi Saleh's first season as the franchise's lead basketball executive.
