Former Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro involved in confrontation at Las Vegas gym

Bam Adebayo punched Tyler Herro in the head during a confrontation at a Las Vegas gym on Friday morning. The incident occurred on the practice court inside the Resorts World Casino gym. Adebayo walked onto the courts where Herro spoke to him.

Adebayo then approached Herro about recent social media comments and punched him without hesitation, according to multiple witnesses. Herro's AAU coach confronted Adebayo after the punch. Herro yelled at Adebayo while being escorted out by security personnel.

Both players left the scene on their own. The incident occurred in front of Herro's AAU team. Adebayo, 28, and Herro, 26, played together as Miami Heat teammates for seven seasons until this month. Herro was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a deal centered on Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Miami Heat told multiple outlets they are aware of the incident but not commenting. Herro declined to comment when approached by Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel. Adebayo was the No. 14 overall pick out of Kentucky by the Heat in the 2017 NBA Draft.

He has earned three All-Star nods and six NBA All-Defense selections. He signed a three-year, $165 million extension in 2024 that runs through the 2028-29 season. Herro won Sixth Man of the Year in 2022 and earned his first All-Star nod in 2025.

Both players were in Las Vegas for the start of the NBA's Summer League. The Heat and Bucks played each other on Friday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
