Career and honors Born in Buckingham, Quebec, Lemieux was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the 1983 NHL draft. He played 1,215 regular-season games, recording 379 goals and 407 assists. Lemieux spent seven seasons with the Canadiens, six with the New Jersey Devils across two stints, and five with the Colorado Avalanche.
He appeared in one game for another team in the 2008-09 season. He recorded 0.68 points per game in 234 postseason contests and won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 1995 after scoring 13 goals in 20 games.
