Former Nigerian Minister Uche Nnaji Appears in Court for Forgery Arraignment
Uche Nnaji, Nigeria's former minister of innovation, science and technology, reached the Federal High Court in Abuja on the morning of 13 July 2026. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission plans to arraign him on charges of forgery and false statements tied to academic credentials submitted for his 2023 appointment.

Uche Nnaji arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja on the morning of 13 July 2026 for arraignment on charges of forgery and making false statements. He entered the courtroom dressed in a white outfit and a red cap, raising his right hand to acknowledge cheers from supporters and other attendees.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission is expected to present the charges before Judge Joyce Abdulmalik.
AllAfrica reported that the commission concluded its investigation and filed the criminal charges after months of review. The case originated from a petition that challenged the authenticity of certificates Nnaji allegedly submitted during his nomination and screening for the ministerial post in 2023.
A Premium Times investigation published in October 2025 first exposed the alleged forgery of those credentials.
In June the commission obtained a 14-day remand order after Nnaji repeatedly failed to honor invitations for questioning. He appealed the arrest order, but the agency proceeded to file charges once its investigation ended. Nnaji has denied any wrongdoing.
