Angus MacNeil represented the Scottish National Party for 18 years between 2005 and 2023 before serving as an independent for the final year of his parliamentary career in 2024.
" Goldsmith stated that Nazi Germany murdered six million Jews plus millions of others in industrial death camps, while Israel is a liberal democracy with Arab citizens comprising 21 percent of its population who hold full voting rights. He added that the Gaza conflict was triggered by the October 7 massacre in which 1,200 Israelis were killed, and that high-end estimates put Palestinian deaths at around 70,000-75,000 over years of urban warfare.
Goldsmith also noted that the Palestinian population in the West Bank and Gaza has grown nearly tenfold since 1948, from approximately 1.4 million to over 5.5 million.
