Former Immigration Minister Kevin Foster said a jailed pilot of a small migrant boat should be deported as soon as possible. Speaking to GB News on 24 June 2026, Foster described the pilot's crimes as appalling and as serious as you can get. He said the question now becomes when the man will leave the country.
Foster noted that human rights lawyers will probably argue inhuman treatment or the right to a family life to delay removal. He added that the individual should be out of the country quickly, particularly if an agreement can be reached for him to serve time in a Tajikistan jail rather than a UK prison.
