Fortune will release its annual ranking of the world's most powerful businesswomen on Wednesday, May 27. The 2025 list uses a new scoring system that favors chief executives over other C-suite roles.
manilatimes.netFortune will publish its 2025 Most Powerful Women list on Wednesday, May 27. The ranking places Mary Barra in the top position, followed by Julie Sweet in second place. The list ranks women based on the size and financial performance of the businesses or divisions they oversee. This year marks the first use of a more complex scoring system introduced with Fortune's 2024 Most Powerful People list.
The 2025 ranking contains 100 executives.
Twenty are chief executives of Fortune 500 companies. Just over half work in the United States, while 48 are based in 19 other countries and territories. Sixteen executives appear on the list for the first time. The remaining 84 include both long-serving leaders and newer executives.
The updated methodology gives additional weight to chief executives and those positioned to succeed them. As a result, some executives in non-CEO roles rank lower than in previous years. More than 50 women currently lead Fortune 500 companies, yet only 20 of those CEOs made the 2025 list.
