Many existing medicines have not advanced in decades even as mental health needs have grown. One in five Americans lives with a mental health disorder. Veterans face higher suicide rates and often do not respond to standard treatments.
Several investigational psychedelic medicines are moving through late-stage clinical trials. Some candidates have received FDA Breakthrough Therapy Designation for anxiety and depression. The forum will examine what current science shows, what regulators require, and what steps Congress could consider so that patients are not left behind.
