Four-star quarterback Trey Tagliaferri decommitted from Notre Dame, Newsweek reported. He had committed to the Fighting Irish six days earlier. Tagliaferri is ranked the No. 11 quarterback in the 2028 Rivals300 and stands at 6 feet 2 inches and 190 pounds.
As a sophomore at Bergen Catholic in New Jersey he threw for 2,215 yards, 29 touchdowns and three interceptions. He holds scholarship offers from Alabama, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State and Rutgers. Tagliaferri has made three visits to Penn State, two visits each to Rutgers, Ole Miss, Alabama and Notre Dame, and single visits to Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Illinois, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Boston College.
Notre Dame enters the 2028 cycle with two commitments: three-star safety Andre Jones and kicker Owen Davies. The program already holds three-star quarterbacks Blake Hebert (2025), Teddy Jarrad and Noah Grubbs (2026), and Wonderful Monds IV (2027). C.J.
