Fox News Draws Record 4th of July Viewership
Fox News Channel recorded its highest-rated Independence Day coverage in network history, peaking at 5.5 million viewers during President Trump's evening address. Severe weather across much of the country contributed to increased cable news audiences on both July 3 and July 4.

Fox News Channel recorded its highest-rated 4th of July programming in network history, according to early Nielsen data. m. ET on July 4. The same segment drew 817,000 viewers in the 25-54 demographic. CNN drew 1.2 million total viewers and 303,000 in the key demographic for the same period, while MS NOW drew 381,000 total viewers and 70,000 in the key demographic.
CBS led the 25-54 demographic in prime time with 422,000 viewers. On July 3, Fox News led prime time with 2.2 million viewers, followed by MS NOW at 907,000 and CNN at 586,000. Fox News also led the key demographic that evening.
Severe weather, including extreme heat and storms, increased overall cable news viewership during the holiday period. Fox News led total day ratings on July 3 with 1.7 million viewers and on July 4 with 2.2 million viewers. Final ratings figures will be released later in the week.
