Foxconn to Invest in 1GW of Solar and Wind in Vietnam as It Shifts Production from China Amid Trade Tensions and Energy Disruptions
The electronics manufacturer will build renewable projects in the Southeast Asian country, which has faced energy disruptions since the Middle East conflict began.
SemaforFoxconn said it will invest in one gigawatt of solar and wind energy production in Vietnam. The announcement came on June 10, 2026. Foxconn is the world’s biggest electronics manufacturer and a supplier to Apple and Nvidia.
The company is shifting manufacturing away from China to minimize the impact of the Sino-US trade standoff. Vietnam imported almost 80% of its oil from Kuwait before the start of the conflict, leaving it vulnerable to supply disruptions. Energy supplies in the country have been upended by the war in the Middle East.
Vietnam is racing to green its grid. Dozens of nations worldwide are racing to green their grids as global energy prices and power demand rise. Semafor reported the commitment highlights Foxconn’s broader production adjustments in response to trade tensions and regional energy constraints.
