The decline occurred as temperatures set historic records on June 24 and 25. Geonexio, Transdev's research laboratory, and Transamo, the company's consultancy, conducted the analysis for Le Monde.
They compared data from Orange Flux Vision covering June 19-25, 2026, with averaged daily movement figures from five weeks in June 2025. The signals indicated that residents limited travel as much as possible and avoided city centers in particular. Analysts concluded that people stayed close to home during the period of extreme heat.
