France's justice minister Gerald Darmanin refused to resign on June 8 after public outrage over judicial lapses in the handling of the suspect in an 11-year-old girl's killing. Darmanin ordered prosecutors to re-examine the 70,000 legal complaints under review across France for alleged crimes against children.

The government is now looking towards measures to introduce to avoid any such tragedy to happen again.
