France and Spain Meet in World Cup Semifinal on Tuesday in Dallas

France and Spain will compete in the opening semifinal of the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday in Dallas. The winner advances to the final on Sunday. Al Jazeera reported that Kylian Mbappe has scored eight goals and recorded three assists in 563 minutes played.

He scored four goals in the group stage and has scored in every knockout round so far. Mbappe also scored a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final. Ousmane Dembele has scored five goals and recorded two assists in 492 minutes, Al Jazeera reported.

He scored a first-half hat-trick against Norway in the group stage and the second goal in France's 2-0 quarterfinal win over Morocco. Mbappe and Dembele have combined for 13 goals, a total unmatched by two players from the same country since Ronaldo and Rivaldo of Brazil in 2002.

The Bayern Munich midfielder has set up multiple goals for France. Lamine Yamal has scored one goal and recorded no assists in 405 minutes, Al Jazeera reported. The 18-year-old Barcelona forward scored in Spain's 4-0 group-stage win over Saudi Arabia and was named player of the match in the quarterfinal victory over Belgium.

He also scored against France in the Euro 2024 semifinals and leads the tournament in successful dribbles. After Spain's quarterfinal win, Yamal said: “I know I can contribute even if I don’t score. ” Mikel Oyarzabal has scored four goals and recorded one assist in 519 minutes, Al Jazeera reported.

He scored six goals in six World Cup qualifiers and the 86th-minute winner for Spain in the Euro 2024 final against England. The Arsenal midfielder scored late winners off the bench against Portugal and Belgium.

He is unlikely to start against France.
