Ontario Superior Court Justice Anne Molloy convicted Frank Stronach on June 19, 2026, of one count of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault. The two convictions relate to incidents involving two separate female complainants that occurred decades ago. Stronach, age 93, had faced 12 charges involving seven complainants.
He pleaded not guilty to all counts. Prosecutors withdrew one charge before the verdict and agreed he should be found not guilty on four additional charges. The trial began in February 2026. Closing arguments concluded in April 2026.
Stronach founded Magna International in 1957, building the company from a garage operation into a major global auto-parts supplier. He resigned as chairman in 2011 and later founded The Stronach Group, a horse-racing company. In 2012 he started a political party in Austria.
The defense has not indicated whether it plans to appeal the convictions. Magna International has not issued a public statement on the verdict.
