French Regulatory Corpus Reaches Record Size of 366,999 Articles

France's central administrative office published its annual snapshot of regulatory activity on May 15. 55 percent from 2025. 3 percent in one year. The office has tracked these figures since 2002.

Over the past decade the number of articles rose 19 percent.

The word count increased 30 percent from 2016 and 81 percent from 2006. Since 2002 the total word volume has more than doubled from roughly 22 million. At an average reading speed of 300 words per minute, the full text would require approximately 2,713 hours, or 113 days, to read.

The central administrative office noted that successive governments have repeatedly pledged to limit regulatory growth, yet the recorded totals continue to rise.
