Frontieras North America announced the appointment of Robert Portz as Vice President of Operations and Engineering on June 16, 2026. The role centers on leading operations at the company's first commercial FASForm facility. Portz said he is excited to join because of the company's approach to converting resources such as coal into higher-value products.
He added that the company's focus on affordable energy and reduced emissions aligns with his operational experience. Portz has more than thirty years of refining operations experience at facilities including Ashland Oil's Catlettsburg refinery, Hunt Refining Company, Sinclair Oil's Wyoming complex, and PBF Energy's Toledo Refinery.
He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Ohio University and an associate degree from West Virginia State College.
A native of Charleston, West Virginia, Portz is the first West Virginia native to hold the position at Frontieras North America.
