President Adama Barrow launched the National People's Party Manifesto, Nine-Point Plan and new digital platforms on June 20 in The Gambia. The event drew Cabinet Ministers, National Assembly Members, diplomats, religious and traditional leaders, coalition partners and NPP supporters. Barrow described the documents and platforms as marking the next phase of national transformation.
He thanked supporters at home and abroad for progress over the past ten years and credited coalition partners with showing how national unity can cross political lines. The president recalled conditions in 2017 that included weak institutions, infrastructure shortfalls and limited investor confidence.
He listed gains since then such as new roads, expanded electricity access, district health facilities, more schools and faster digital links.
The manifesto places emphasis on youth employment, digital innovation, technical training, sports and entrepreneurship. Barrow pledged continued expansion of opportunities for women in business, leadership, education, agriculture and public service. Government plans include further investment in irrigation, rice, livestock, fisheries and agro-processing to cut food imports.
Barrow also introduced websites and AI-powered engagement systems intended to reach younger, tech-savvy citizens. The next presidential election is scheduled for December. Barrow called for sustained peace and mutual respect during the campaign period.
