US Statement on Detainees A U.S.
State Department official said all detainees must be treated humanely and consistent with international law. The same official condemned the flotilla and noted that Washington has imposed sanctions on its organizers. Huwaida Arraf, a Palestinian American activist involved in the flotilla, said the sanctions represent an effort to break Palestinian solidarity efforts.
Hezbollah said it launched drone attacks on Israeli military positions near Naqoura, Tayr Harfa, and Dibil in southern Lebanon. The group did not report whether the strikes caused casualties. Israeli artillery struck the Lebanese town of Shawkin near an orphanage, according to the National News Agency.
No immediate casualties were reported from that incident. S. Treasury Department announced new sanctions targeting nine individuals accused of aiding Hezbollah and undermining Lebanon's sovereignty.
